lurer Wed Feb 03, 2010 2:42 pm
6 tiny peacocks today! Absolutely no fight but boy are they feisty!
Then spotted 2 haruans swimming away hastily in quick succession. Heheh, hiding something? Yes they do! I moved further down to ease their tension. They are very shy if they can see you. Started casting at them some distance away, can't see them so very tempted to move back to check but I resisted. They will swim away if they see me again.
After a couple casts it looks like they are non-takers but suddenly 'BOOMZ!' YES!! that's how you do it! That's how you take a lure. Nice! It's been so long I felt a strong toman/haruan surface take.
Rod bent and hookup seems good. However very quickly it dived into i guess one of it hiding place, a haversack!!! Crafty fish! My lure is now stuck onto the sack!!. A lot of mud/gravel were threw up so I can't see if the haruan was still hooked on. I waited a while and then felt a pull. Yes the fish is hooked onto my lure which is hooked onto the sack. By now, the mud/gravel had settled considerably so I can see the fish, mouth wide open body twisting to shake off the hook. I quickly reach for my lip grip but too late!! Just as I lower myself to grip it, it shook off!
They are really sly crafty fish, Never landed one so far!! But I'm glad I got a explosive surface and my lure is still with me.
All released.
Singapore is only this small, our fishing grounds are even smaller. Protect, not da-pao.
